Minster Buckley donates life-saving defibrillator to local school
March 2022
Our colleagues at the Minster Buckley branch in North Wales have shown true community spirit and support by donating a lifesaving defibrillator to a local school. Ysgol Bryn Coch School in Mold, received the donation just before Christmas and it now takes pride of place in the easily accessible school reception.
Dan Massey, Site Operations Supervisor at Buckley branch explains more about the donation and how it came about: “We were approached by a member of our team who has connections within the local school. We quickly learnt how several fundraising and volunteering events had been outlined with the intent of raising money towards investment in an on-site defibrillator. We were keen to get involved and see how the company could potentially help – so that’s exactly what we did. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we have played such an important part in providing the defibrillator – every school, in fact every public building should have access to something that so evidently saves lives.”
Andrew Williams, Deputy Headteacher at Ysgol Bryn Coch School is thrilled and had these words: “Can I take this opportunity on behalf of the school to thank Minster for this very kind donation. We hope we never have to use the defibrillator but we can rest easy knowing should the need arise; we have this life saving device at hand.”
Minster is entirely committed to supporting the local communities in which they operate, and the donation of the defibrillator, was a great opportunity to play their part in Buckley. The well-known automated external defibrillator (AED) is a life saving device which is strongly encouraged in all workplaces, schools and public buildings.
The young, and seemingly fit can be struck down – at least 12 young people die every week in the UK from a sudden cardiac arrest. Statistics now suggest usage of a defibrillator within the first three minutes can increase survival rates to over 80%.
