Edgar Wood Academy: providing education facilities of the future
Edgar Wood Academy is a multi-million-pound new school development creating state of the art education facilities in Middleton, Rochdale.
The 900-place secondary school includes modern specialist teaching resources such as science labs, computing rooms and art studios; dedicated performing arts facilities, a well-stocked library and resource centre, a fully resourced technology suite with food technology, product design and construction facilities as well as a well-equipped sports hall and fitness suite.
Based at Bowlee, the academy replaces the previous temporary site on the ground of Hopwood Hall College providing leading education facilities to meet the need of additional secondary school places in the North West.
In partnership with contractor Wates and specialist drylining contractor Bluegyp, Minster provided a full Siniat drylining solution for the Edgar Wood Academy project, creating interior walls and ceilings as well as external weather defences for the new buildings.
